In recognition of the #International_Day_of_Women_and_Girls_in_Science, we’re celebrating the women at Kuraray America, Inc. whose knowledge, determination, and passion shape our work and our impact. In this feature, we spotlight Anita Jones, MBA, highlighting how science and data transform complexity into clarity, and ideas into real-world impact.

Background & Current Role
With a foundation in chemical engineering and an MBA with a concentration in data analytics, Anita brings a practical, science-based approach to problem-solving. She is the Plant Manager at Kuraray America, Inc.’s SEPTON facility in Pasadena, Texas, and is responsible for production, materials management, and quality control.

Her career bridges process engineering and advanced analytics, and that combination helps her in chemical plant leadership: the ability to see systems end-to-end and ask the probing questions when diagnosing issues and guiding decisions.

Early in her career, she used tools like Design of Experiments and Six Sigma to improve processes, and today she continues to build on that skillset, especially as she explores how AI can support even better decisions.

Measurable Improvements & Operational Results
Throughout her career, including roles prior to KAI, Anita has delivered measurable improvements that translate vision into real operational results:

• Process efficiency: Designed a new monomer unloading facility that reduced railcar unloading time, an efficiency gain of more than 80%, while improving flow and safety.

• Data-driven optimization: Applied data analysis to a milling operation, confirming that 98% of batches reached target particle size within a defined timeframe, enabling reduced sampling and increased productivity.

These improvements don’t just move metrics, they make daily operations safer, smoother, and more reliable for the teams who run them.

Giving Back
Beyond her day-to-day role, Anita serves on the Board of Directors for Nerdy Girl Success®, Inc, continuing her commitment to supporting the next generation and to help expand access to STEM opportunities.

Anita’s career is a strong example of what this year’s theme, #FromVisionToImpact, looks like in practice: combining engineering judgment, data-driven thinking, leadership and community engagement to turn ideas into real, lasting outcomes.
