Legacy Voices: Strengthening Supply Chain Through Experience and Innovation: Jennifer Sellers

Jennifer sees her scheduling work as directly connected to Kuraray America's mission. Careful forecasting helps avoid excess production, reduce waste, and keep unnecessary trucks off the road.
Rising Star Ryan Martins Kuraray

As Kuraray America, Inc. continues to celebrate the countdown to Kuraray's Centennial in June 2026, our #LegacyVoices series honors the people whose dedication and experience helped shape who we are today. This week, we’re also recognizing National Supply Chain Day by highlighting employees across logistics and procurement whose work helps keep our operations moving forward.

For Jennifer Sellers, Master Scheduler at our plant in Fayetteville, NC, one simple lesson has shaped her experience: “Ask the question. Don’t leave the room confused.”

Nearly four decades on the plant floor have given Jennifer a perspective few can match. Today, she helps plans production across Fayetteville’s SentryGlas® and Trosifol® lines, balancing customer demand with production capacity and inventory to help keep product moving across North America and beyond.

A Defining Transition
When Kuraray America acquired the Fayetteville site from DuPont in 2014, Jennifer had already spent 26 years there. The transition brought uncertainty, but what followed was a company that showed up for its people and earned their trust.

"Senior leadership came to our plant and took the time to sit down with each of us individually. They listened, laid out a clear plan, and followed through. That told me everything I needed to know about this company," she says.

Driving Digital Transformation
Jennifer played a hands-on role in one of the site's most significant operational shifts. As an SAP expert in shop floor systems, she was heavily involved in testing and integrating new digital infrastructure during a multi-year transformation that brought modern shop floor and SAP platforms to the site.

One project she takes particular pride in was consolidating multiple disconnected data sources into an automated system that feeds directly into the shop floor platform, improving visibility and making information easier to access and share for new team members.

For People and the Planet
Jennifer sees her scheduling work as directly connected to Kuraray America's mission. Careful forecasting helps avoid excess production, reduce waste, and keep unnecessary trucks off the road.

"If we’re producing more than we need, that’s wasted material and more trucks on the road. I take that personally," she says.

Looking Ahead
After nearly four decades on the plant floor, Jennifer's perspective on the next century is clear. "Innovation will carry us forward, but safety and quality have to be built in from the start. That's non-negotiable."
