Kuraray America Celebrates Family Day and Commemorates Kuraray’s Centennial

Employees from Kuraray America, Inc.’s Houston-area sites recently gathered with their families and friends for the Annual BBQ Cook-Off and Family Fun Day, celebrating 100 years of Kuraray together.

The celebration began on Friday with a friendly BBQ competition featuring brisket, ribs, chicken, and creative bites, including bacon-wrapped Oreos. Teams brought their own recipes, themes, and competitive spirit to the cook-off, creating an evening centered on good food, teamwork, and time spent with colleagues and loved ones.

Congratulations to the HQ Boardroom Outlaws, this year’s Grand Champion.

On Saturday, the centennial celebration continued with activities that brought together Kuraray’s Japanese heritage and the families who are part of the company’s community. Guests enjoyed kimono try-ons, a Japanese drumming ensemble, a petting zoo, and games and activities for children of all ages.

For 100 years, Kuraray’s story has been shaped by generations of employees and the families who have supported them along the way. Family Day gave employees the opportunity to recognize that shared history while creating new memories together.
