Kuraray America Showcases GENESTAR™ PA9T at SAE’s Thermal Management Systems Symposium 2026

For Kuraray, participation provided an opportunity to connect directly with engineers and other industry professionals while discussing how high-performance materials can help address increasingly complex automotive design requirements.

Kuraray America’s Bob Haley and Brad Lovett showcased GENESTAR™ PA9T at SAE International’s Thermal Management Systems Symposium 2026.

Kuraray America, Inc. (KAI) recently participated in the SAE International Thermal Management Systems Symposium, held October 6-7, 2026, in Dearborn, Michigan. The event brought together professionals from across the mobility industry to discuss technologies and emerging challenges in vehicle thermal management.

Throughout the two-day symposium, the Kuraray GENESTAR team connected with attendees at Booth #19, sharing insights into high-performance engineering materials and demonstrating how GENESTAR™ PA9T can meet the demands of demanding automotive applications.

Exploring High-Performance Solutions with GENESTAR™ PA9T

GENESTAR™ PA9T is a heat-resistant polyamide engineering plastic developed by Kuraray using unique monomers. The material combines low water absorption, high heat resistance, chemical resistance, dimensional precision and excellent moldability. GENESTAR™ also offers electrical properties that make the material suitable for demanding electrical and electronic applications.

At the symposium, Kuraray highlighted several key characteristics of GENESTAR™ PA9T:

  • Low water absorption
  • Excellent chemical resistance
  • Excellent moldability
  • Electrical insulation performance
  • High thermal resistance
  • Dimensional stability

These characteristics make GENESTAR™ relevant for a broad range of electrical, electronic, and automotive components. Kuraray lists automotive applications, including connectors, relays, insulators, and wire harnesses, while GENESTAR™ materials are also used in sliding, fuel, and air-intake systems.

Supporting the Future of Automotive Engineering

The SAE Thermal Management Systems Symposium provides an opportunity for professionals from across the automotive industry to exchange insights into evolving thermal management technologies. The 2026 program covered topics including battery and electronics cooling, climate control, alternative refrigerants, and approaches to vehicle thermal engineering.

For Kuraray, participation provided an opportunity to connect directly with engineers and other industry professionals while discussing how high-performance materials can help address increasingly complex automotive design requirements.

With its combination of thermal performance, low moisture uptake, chemical resistance and strong electrical properties, GENESTAR™ PA9T provides engineers with a material option for applications where multiple performance requirements must be addressed simultaneously.

Kuraray reports that GENESTAR™ is used in automotive applications, including gears, bearings, piping, and intercooler tanks, and is also being considered for electric-vehicle applications.

Connecting with the Automotive Community

Thank you to everyone who stopped by Booth #19 and connected with the Kuraray team during the symposium. The conversations and opportunities to exchange knowledge with industry professionals continue to help drive collaboration and innovation across the automotive sector.

A special thank you to Bob Haley and Brad Lovett for representing Kuraray and GENESTAR™ at the event.
