From First Day to Full-Time: Ramsha Syed's Journey at Kuraray America
An internship can shape a career and sometimes it comes to a full circle. One of Kuraray America, Inc.’s (KAI) former interns returned as a full-time employee and now helps guide the next generation of interns, sharing the same support and encouragement that helped launch her own career.
In our 7th feature of From-First-Day-To-Full-Time series, meet:
🪪 Ramsha Syed
👥 KAI Intern Cohort 2020
🏫 University of Houston, Main Campus
📜 M.S., Mechanical Engineering
💼 Production Engineer, PVOH, La Porte, TX
Since her first day as an intern, her career has expanded from the technology group into production, where she now supports the Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM) process as a Production Engineer.
Her progression has also come full circle: after beginning her career with the guidance from experienced peers, Ramsha has now mentored 3 interns and is currently supporting the 4th.
She continues to credit Thuy Tran for guiding her from the beginning of her internship through her career today. Thuy’s emphasis on accountability, responsibility, and ethical decision-making continues to shape how Ramsha approaches her work and mentors' others.
Watch the video to hear how meaningful responsibility, long-term mentorship, and an open-door culture helped shape Ramsha’s path from intern to mentor.
