Frameworks in Action: Stephen Greco Advances Critical Thinking in Process Safety
Kuraray America, Inc.'s Safety Spotlight is on Stephen Greco
Frameworks in Action: Embedding Critical Thinking in Process Safety
The safest workplaces are those where people feel comfortable asking, "What if?" Stephen Greco doesn't just standardize safety procedures; he fosters curiosity, transforming processes into tools that support better thinking and stronger decisions.
For Stephen, safety has always been second nature. Growing up in a family where nearly everyone worked in health, safety, or environmental roles, his approach to operational discipline is both professional and deeply personal. Stephen brings decades of experience to the systems and culture that protect our teams.
One of his key contributions has been leading the development of standardized Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) across all Kuraray America, Inc. facilities. These consistent digital tools provide operators, engineers, and plant leaders with a shared foundation for identifying risks, evaluating consequences before they occur, and comparing those risks across multiple locations. Stephen's influence goes beyond system design. He works side by side with plant teams to build a culture where questions are encouraged and procedures are viewed not as red tape but as tools for thinking clearly and critically. His work reflects Kuraray America’s broader shift toward a culture that values curiosity, accountability, and continuous learning as core drivers of safety.
