ESG Community Engagement Bike Around the Bay

Congratulations to our Kuraray America, Inc. team of 24 cyclists and ‘Thank you’ to our team of volunteers on their participation in the 2025 Bike Around the Island, a premier cycling event organized by the Galveston Bay Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting and restoring the Galveston Bay ecosystem.

As Platinum Sponsors, we’re proud to support this event and the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to preserve the Bay through education, habitat restoration, water protection, land conservation, and advocacy. Their initiatives, including the Chocolate Bay Preserve Restoration, Trash Bash® Cleanup, and Alternative Spring Break Service Projects, demonstrate the power of community partnerships in advancing sustainability.

Led by Diana Maya, our riding team captain, and Wendy C., our volunteer lead, our employees and their guests joined hundreds of riders to help raise awareness and funds for a cleaner, healthier Bay, today and for future generations.

On ride day, each team member completed a 43-mile route, each pedal powered by encouragement, laughter, and camaraderie. The team’s goal was to raise $4,500; however, this incredible group blew past expectations, raising $7,234!

Volunteers shared that from cheering on riders to celebrating at the finish line, the event was filled with energy, pride, and nonstop community spirit. Watching the cyclists push through those final miles was nothing short of inspiring.

This experience was a powerful reminder that when people come together with purpose and positivity, amazing things happen. We’re so proud of what the team accomplished and grateful to everyone who helped make this year’s ride such a grand success.
