Degradation

Degradation is the breakdown or deterioration of a material’s structure or properties due to heat, light, oxygen, moisture, chemicals, mechanical stress, or biological activity. It may appear as discoloration, embrittlement, loss of strength, changes in viscosity, cracking, or reduced functional performance.
