Held Management Briefing on Growth Opportunities in the Activated Carbon Business

KURARAY CO., LTD. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Hitoshi Kawahara) held a management briefing for institutional investors and analysts, on the theme of growth opportunities in its activated carbon business.

Activated carbon is gaining attention as an effective solution for the removal of PFAS, which are highly persistent in the environment and have been reported to potentially pose adverse health effects. As PFAS regulations continue to tighten globally, the U.S. has established regulations for PFAS concentrations in drinking water, while discussions toward regulatory implementation are progressing in Europe and other regions. In addition, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has identified granular activated carbon as one of the Best Available Technologies for PFAS removal, and demand for activated carbon is expected to expand in the coming years.

At the briefing, we introduced the Kuraray Group’s strengths as the world’s largest activated carbon manufacturer and a total solution provider for activated carbon, as well as our growth strategy and outlook leveraging these capabilities. Going forward, we will continue to respond to expanding demand and aim to achieve sustainable growth.
