Kuraray Group Human Rights Policy
With regard to respect for human rights, the Kuraray Group Code of Conduct states that the Kuraray Group will protect the human rights of all people involved in its business activities and respect the dignity and value of each and every individual. The Kuraray Group Human Rights Policy was established with the aim of reflecting respect for human rights in the actions of all Kuraray Group employees by stating it in more concrete terms. We are committed to respecting human rights in our corporate activities. We consider respect for human rights to be a core element of our corporate responsibility, and we will earnestly put into practice our commitment to respecting human rights.
Kuraray Group Human Rights Policy
This policy serves as the foundation for ensuring that we respect the human rights of all stakeholders with dignity and respect in the Kuraray Group’s global business activities.
1. Principles/Human Rights
Human rights are inherent to all people regardless of race, gender, nationality, ethnicity, language, religion or other status, and all people have these rights without discrimination.
The Kuraray Group has a responsibility to respect these rights in its business activities and to promote a healthy and mutually respectful environment for all employees, including executives, business partners and others directly involved in its business.
2. Commitment to Human Rights
We believe that respect for human rights is a core element of corporate responsibility. Respect for human rights is reflected in the Kuraray Corporate Statements and the Kuraray Group Code of Conduct. These principles are based on internationally recognized human rights standards, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Declaration of the International Labor Organization on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
In accordance with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, we commit to respecting human rights in order to fulfill our responsibility to prevent and mitigate human rights violations and provide remedies in the event that such violations do occur.
We respect human rights in the Kuraray Group's business activities and value chain, and are committed to the elimination of child labor, prohibition of forced labor, prohibition of all forms of discrimination, freedom of association, and a safe and healthy working environment. We also encourage our suppliers and other business partners to comply with the principles set forth in this policy and implement appropriate processes to respect human rights.
We comply with laws and regulations, and respect human rights in accordance with international norms without violating local laws where internationally recognized human rights are restricted by local laws.
3. Human Rights Due Diligence
We continuously conduct appropriate due diligence to identify and mitigate the risks and impacts of human rights violations in our business activities in order to fulfill the Kuraray Group's responsibility to respect human rights. Depending on the results of our assessment of the risks of human rights violations, we reinforce compliance with this policy by our business partners.
In monitoring respect for human rights in our business activities, we conduct periodic risk assessments and reviews of our business activities to confirm compliance with this policy, and we disclose periodically the status of our efforts to respect human rights.
4. Complaint Handling Mechanism
We continuously work to strengthen our grievance mechanisms so that internal and external stakeholders can report possible human rights violations or non-compliance. If we cause negative human rights impacts through our business activities, we strive to rectify the deficiencies by utilizing internal and external expertise. We also implement corrective measures to prevent similar violations from recurring.

Initiatives to Respect Human Rights
- Internal Structure
To ensure the steady advance of our human rights initiatives, we established in May 2024 a Human Rights Due Diligence Task Force which is responsible for planning and promoting strategies and initiatives related to human rights across our organization. The task force reports its activities to the Board of Directors as the need arises.
- Initiatives Related to Human Rights Due Diligence
As part of our efforts to promote human rights due diligence, we conducted a human rights survey for employees of the Kuraray Group in Japan in January 2025. Through this survey, we assessed and analyzed risks related to human rights violations, and take measures to prevent or mitigate these risks starting with the most urgent and important issues. We will expand the survey to the employees at our overseas group companies and continue our efforts to address human rights risks across the entire Kuraray Group.

Grievance Redress Mechanisms
In order to expand the relief and grievance mechanisms, in addition to the internal and external consultation services operated by the Kuraray Group, we have established a consultation service on human rights using the "Dialogue and Relief Platform" provided by the Japan Business and Human Rights Dialogue and Relief Organization (JaCER).
JaCER provides a non-judicial “Engagement and Remedy Platform” —the Dialogue-Based Remedy Platform— in accordance with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and aims to support and promote member companies’ grievance-handling processes from a specialized and neutral standpoint.
The Kuraray Group promotes efforts to prevent, remedy, and mitigate human rights risks in its business activities based on the Kuraray Group Human Rights Policy.
Going forward, with the professional support and expertise provided by JaCER, we will further enhance fairness and transparency. Through the utilization of the “Engagement and Remedy Platform”, we will appropriately respond to human-rights-related inquiries and consultations from a wide range of stakeholders.
*We accept inquiries via the website of JaCER, of which we are a member.
