Chemicals/Elastomers/Rubber Methacrylate Derivatives

KURARITY™

General name
Acrylic block copolymer (MAM)
Sales format
Pellets/high-viscosity liquid polymer
Examples

KURARITY™ is a new series of acrylic block copolymers produced using Kuraray’s unique anionic living polymerization technology which combines various (meth)acrylates into AB or ABA type block copolymers. Due to its structure, KURARITY™ exhibits a variety of properties such as excellent clarity, weather resistance, self-adhesion, and good compatibility with other polar materials. Applications include adhesives, molded goods, light guides, plastics modifier and additives.

Applications

Adhesive

Adhesives for surface protection films, industrial tapes, labels. Spray adhesives, hot melts, solvent- based adhesives.

Molded parts

Automotive interior lighting, light guides, illuminations, smartphone cases, automotive interior components

Plastics modifier and additive

For polar plastics (PMMA, PLA, ABS, AS, PVC, PVDF, TPU, PC, PBT, POM, etc.), adhesives, inks, paints

Characteristics

Self-adhesive

Functional group/acid-free

Excellent clarity

Extremely low residual monomers or oligomers

Ultimately less odor

Excellent weatherability and no concerns about hydrolysis degradation

High-gloss, comparable with PMMA

Excellent flexibility, without plasticizers

Excellent injection/extrusion moldability

Good compatibility with polar plastics
