Statement on impending impacts of winter storm URI
HOUSTON – Officials with Kuraray America, Inc. (KAI) have confirmed the company has activated its emergency response plan in preparation for the impending severe weather. Beginning Sunday, February 14th at 6:00 p.m., only essential personnel will be on-site at the company’s Houston-area plants per emergency procedure. The emergency period will be in place from Sunday, February 14, 2021, into Tuesday, February 16, 2021, but could be extended if hazardous conditions persist.
“Our first priority is ensuring the safety of our employees and contractors in the Houston area,” said Hitoshi Toyoura, president and CEO of KAI. “Our thoughts go out to all of them as they prepare their homes for the storm’s arrival.”
Kuraray America, Inc. continues to monitor the storm and will provide additional information as it becomes available. Employees are reminded to monitor internal communications for up-to-date information on operations.
