EDUCATION: February 12, 2025 Kuraray America, Inc. donates $30,000 in industrial equipment to Robeson Community College Kuraray America, Inc. (Kuraray) has donated industrial equipment valued at $30,000 to the Mechatronics Program at Robeson Community College (RCC), near the company’s Fayetteville Works site in North Carolina


ENVIRONMENTAL: March 29, 2025 Kuraray America, Inc. ESG Community Engagement Trash Bash On March 29, Kuraray America, Inc. was thrilled to sponsor and participate in the 31st Annual #TrashBash hosted by Galveston Bay Foundation! This annual event was a perfect lead-in to #EarthDay, giving our employees the chance to take meaningful action.


ENVIRONMENTAL: April 22. 2025 Fayetteville Works Earth Day project at Elizabethtown Middle School Kuraray America, Inc. Fayetteville Recycle Team sponsored a hands-on community project at Elizabethtown Middle School in celebration of Earth Day. Volunteers from across the Fayetteville site rolled up their sleeves to enhance the school grounds with fresh pine straw mulch, blooming rose bushes, a bird feeder, birdhouse, and a fountain.


SOCIAL WELFARE: May 29. 2025 Kuraray America, Inc. ESG Community Engagement Vectran Dog House Build Small Builds, Big Impact: Vectran Team Volunteers for Project Safe Pet. Over the weekend, our Vectran team proudly participated in Project Safe Pet (PSP) — 100 % volunteer-based nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of dogs and cats across the Carolinas.


SOCIAL WELFARE: June 16, 2025 Kuraray America, Inc. ESG Community Engagement Baytown Shelter Kuraray America, Inc. employees, friends, and family members spent the morning volunteering at the City of Baytown, TX Animal Services & Adoption Center. From crafting enrichment toys and organizing supplies to cleaning and spending enrichment time with the animals.


SOCIAL WELFARE: June 29, 2025 Kuraray America, Inc. ESG Community Engagement Fayetteville Works Nurse Appreciation In celebration of Nurse Appreciation Week, our Fayetteville Works team had the privilege of donating exam lights and Igloo coolers to the dedicated school nurses across Robeson County.


SOCIAL WELFARE: July 12, 2025 Kuraray America, Inc. ESG Community Engagement Summer Interns Houston Food Bank. Kuraray America, Inc. America interns and employees showed up for a morning of volunteering at the Houston Food Bank. In just one shift, we helped prepare over 22,000 meals for families and individuals experiencing food insecurity across Southeast Texas.


SOCIAL WELFARE: August 5, 2025 Kuraray America, Inc. took on the Juice Box Challenge to support Houston Kids’ Meal Inc. This summer, Kuraray America, Inc. (KAI) took on the Juice Box Challenge to support an incredible Houston Nonprofit, Kids’ Meal Inc. and its mission of delivering free, healthy meals directly to young children’s homes.


EDUCATION: September 19, 2025 Kuraray America, Inc. participated in the City of La Porte Health & Safety Fair 2025 Kuraray America, Inc. is proud to have participated in the City of La Porte Health & Safety Fair 2025, an event we have supported for many years. This annual gathering is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the community, raise awareness about everyday hazards, and share practical ways to stay prepared.


ENVIRONMENTAL: October 24, 2025 Kuraray America, Inc. ESG Community Engagement Bike Around Bay As Platinum Sponsors, we’re proud to support this event and the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to preserve the Bay through education, habitat restoration, water protection, land conservation, and advocacy.


CULTURAL: November 3, 2025 Kuraray America, Inc. ​was Nagayamon Sponsor for Japan Festival Houston 2025 Kuraray America, Inc. (KAI)​ is proud to be a sponsor of this annual event focused on promoting the rich cultural heritage of Japanese customs and traditions. A group of 25 KAI volunteers supported the Kids' Fair area with activities that included Super Ball Scooping, Gold Fish Scooping, Water Balloon, Quoit, and Ruffle Draw!

EDUCATIONAL: November 13, 2025 Kuraray America, Inc. was part of the Nerdy Girl Success Galveston County Career and Leadership Summit, Kuraray America, Inc. hosted 4 tables and focused on professional etiquette and workplace readiness, discussing everything from communication and networking to building confidence in new environments. It was a rewarding opportunity to share our experiences.


SOCIAL WELFARE: December 10, 2025 Kuraray America, Inc. ESG Community Engagement Fayetteville Works Food Drive Thanks to everyone’s generosity, teamwork, and commitment to helping others, we delivered 13 boxes of food to Second Harvest Food Bank. Because of your contributions, families in our community who need it most will have greater access to nutritious meals and critical support.


SOCIAL WELFARE: December 12, 2025 Kuraray America, Inc. supports United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley: Festival of Trees Kuraray America, Inc. Washington Works site sponsored a Christmas tree, (A Berry Merry Christmas), for the Festival of Trees in support of United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley, raising $1,300 to help advance United Way’s work across the Mid-Ohio Valley.


SOCIAL WELFARE: December 13, 2025 Kuraray America, Inc. ESG Community Engagement Fayetteville Falcon Children’s Home and Family Services Thanks to the generosity across our Fayetteville works site, a combined effort between employees and Kuraray America, Inc., we were able to raise more than $1700. This made it possible to purchase every item on the children’s wish list provided by Falcon Children’s Home, a really meaningful outcome for everyone involved.


Giving Back to Communities

As a responsible corporate citizen, Kuraray seeks opportunities to contribute to the success of our plant communities both financially and through the active volunteer participation of our employees.

Corporate Contribution Guidelines:

Kuraray America, Inc. (KAI) will consider charitable contributions to eligible nonprofit organizations and academic institutions with priority consideration given to organizations serving in or near U.S. communities where KAI has a major presence. Guidelines for the administration of our corporate contributions program can be found in our Corporate Donations Policy.

We believe that leveraging our financial contributions with the volunteer talents of our employees leads to stronger, more vibrant relationships in the surrounding communities, so we give preference to projects that include employee involvement.Through donations to charities and educational institutions that contribute to the well-being of communities and individuals, KAI assumes a global stance as a generous and engaged corporate citizen. Focus areas for funding are:

Education

KAI supports a wide range of educational projects, but is especially interested in supporting K-12 programs that enhance STEM skills. We believe that these skills may lead to interest in technical careers among students.

Health, Safety, and Environmental

KAI values the importance of keeping our neighbors safe. Our funding is directed towards community safety and fire prevention, disaster preparedness and recovery, and societal health and wellness issues. KAI contributes to the preservation of natural resources and recognizes the importance of conserving our environment. As part of our commitment to environmental stewardship, we support projects that restore and protect critical ecosystems as well as those that address water and air quality.

Japanese Cultural Initiatives

KAI funds a broad range of projects that promote greater cultural understanding between the people of both the United States and Japan.

KAI supports a wide range of charitable organizations that are tax-exempt in the United States, under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. KAI will not consider contributions for the following purposes:

  • Individuals
  • Private foundations
  • Personal trusts
  • Donor advised funds
  • Capital campaigns
  • Endowment funds
  • Political organizations
  • Religious organizations that do not serve the general public on a non-denominational basis
  • Organizations that do not comply with KAI’s non-discrimination policy
  • Organizations that do not comply with the USA Patriot Act


Note: Funding decisions are based on available resources and eligibility and at the sole discretion of the Company.

Our Matching Gift and Volunteer Grant programs enable employees to direct a portion of the company’s giving program through individual employee investment. This investment can be financial or through volunteering personal time.  Documents for applying for a Matching Gift and Volunteer Grant are available to employees on the company intranet site.

Kuraray’s employees, through their generous spirit and willingness to be involved, are a natural extension into the surrounding communities. Through this avenue we are able to foster open communication and a mutual focus on shared goals. Our Matching Gift program is designed to honor that diversity by supporting the charitable organizations that matter most to them—because when we empower individual giving, we strengthen our collective impact.

Recently, Kuraray has been involved in throughout our community in the following ways:

  • Helped build a home with Habitat for Humanity
  • Sponsored and helped clean up during Trash Bash within the Houston area
  • Participated as judges for local Science Fairs
  • Hosted foreign exchange students who are interested in STEM for plant tours and explanations
  • Involvement with local Robotics Team
  • Hosted a booth at the Girls Exploring Math and Science booth for Houston Museum of Natural Science
  • Engineers hosted a booth and participated in the Rockets to the Rescue activity at local STEM fair
  • Hosted a rest stop during the Deer Park Bike Rally in the Houston area
