Kuraray announces its decision to revise the prices of three of its products: the polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) resin, KURARAY POVAL; the vinyl acetate-based, water-soluble synthetic resin, EXCEVAL; and the ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer emulsion, PANFLEX. Details of the revisions, which commence with shipments from April 1, 2014, are set out below.

The recent surge in crude oil and naphtha prices and continued rise in utility costs have deteriorated the profitability of operations, far exceeding the effects of the Company's cost-reduction endeavors. Accordingly, it is expected that continuing these operations would be difficult if the Company were to maintain the current sales prices.

Under these circumstances, Kuraray has decided to implement the price revisions set out below to maintain a steady supply and to improve profitability.

1. Scope of revision and price increases
PVA resin KURARAY POVAL ¥30/kg for shipments in Japan
US$0.30/kg for overseas shipments
Vinyl acetate-based, water-soluble synthetic resin EXCEVAL ¥30/kg for shipments in Japan
US$0.30/kg for overseas shipments
EVA copolymer emulsion PANFLEX* ¥15/kg for shipments in Japan
2. Effective date: Shipments from April 1, 2014
