Kuraray Donates to Support Earthquake Relief Efforts in Eastern Afghanistan

We would like to express our deepest sympathies to all those affected by this earthquake.

Kuraray Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Hitoshi Kawahara) announces its decision to donate 2 million yen to Peace Winds Japan, a certified Non-Profit Organization. This fund will be used to provide relief to those affected by the earthquake that struck Nangarhar Province in eastern Afghanistan on August 31, 2025.

Peace Winds Japan is supplying and distributing food and essential non-food items in the disaster-hit areas in coordination with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and other UN agencies. Distribution of relief supplies began on September 17, and Kuraray’s donation will be used to procure necessary items locally.

The affected areas include regions where Kuraray has been donating school backpacks for over 20 years through its “Sending School Backpacks Across the Sea” initiative, which delivers gently used school backpacks filled with stationery and handwritten messages to children in areas facing educational challenges. The Kuraray Group sincerely hopes for the swift recovery and reconstruction of the disaster-stricken communities.
