Solvents
It is widely compatible with hydrophobic substances and completely miscible with water. In addition, it has a low odor, low toxicity and is biodegradable. Glycol ether can be replaced by MMB, reducing the risk of environmental damage. In many cases, MMB significantly increases the detergent power of other cleaning agents. MMB-AC has superior solvency and is therefore suitable for producing thinners and wet paint removers.
Thanks to their specific compatibility with certain pigments, MPD and isopentyldiol can be used as high-performance solvents for inks. 4-methyltetrahydropyran (MTHP) is a novel hydrophobic solvent which has better properties than THF or 2-methyl-THF in many organic reactions. MTHP can easily be separated from water, opening up new perspectives for sustainable chemistry.
