Fakuma 2026: Kuraray Showcases State-of-the-Art Material Solutions with GENESTAR™ PA9T
High-performance materials from the GENESTAR™ family combine heat resistance, reliable high-voltage insulation, and durability—for automotive, E&E, and industrial applications.
Hattersheim, August 18, 2026. Kuraray, the global specialty chemicals company headquartered in Japan, will highlight its unique high-performance polyamides from the GENESTAR™ PA9T family at the 30th Fakuma in Friedrichshafen (October 12–16, 2026, Booth B4-4403). These specialized material solutions enable developers in sectors such as the automotive industry and high-voltage environments to overcome their challenges in thermal management, high-voltage safety, and durability. This is because materials from the GENESTAR™ PA9T family address overheating issues, exhibit very high chemical resistance, and provide insulation in high-voltage scenarios up to 1,000 volts—in modern traction batteries as well as in industrial applications. At the same time, GENESTAR™ materials facilitate large-scale production even for complex components. The technical experts from Kuraray’s GENESTAR Division look forward to showing Fakuma visitors the wide range of possibilities that the high-performance polyamides from the GENESTAR™ PA9T family open up for the design and manufacture of sophisticated components.
1. Protection against overheating and thermal stress in automotive engineering The robust plastic materials in the GENESTAR™ PA9T family maintain their stable mechanical properties across a wide temperature range. GENESTAR™ PA9T materials have repeatedly proven their suitability as components for thermal management and are used in automotive applications, where high thermal resistance is essential. Modern battery technology provides another prime example of this. Alongside 800- to 1,000-V architectures featuring very high energy densities and ultra-fast charging, the risk of overheating has also increased in the field of electric mobility. While conventional polymers tend to lose their mechanical stability under extreme thermal conditions, the materials in the GENSTAR™ PA9T family demonstrate their resilience in these scenarios.
2. Resistance to aggressive coolants and hydrolysis risks Modern concepts for the efficient cooling of vehicles and drive batteries are increasingly using aggressive liquids as refrigerants. Conventional materials are subjected to severe chemical stress as a result, swell easily, and then fail prematurely. In contrast, materials from the GENESTAR™ PA9T family offer high chemical resistance to aggressive coolants; they are extremely resistant to hydrolysis even at high temperatures, thereby ensuring the long-term stability and reliability of cooling components.
3. Safe material for high-voltage environments ranging from 800 to 1,000 volts Materials that retain excellent insulation properties even at voltages ranging from 800 to 1,000 volts are indispensable in high-voltage environments. This applies equally to the high-voltage architectures of modern drive batteries and industrial high-voltage environments. Preventing leakage currents is also one of the essential safety factors in high-voltage designs. Here, too, materials from the GENESTAR™ PA9T family excel. They not only offer outstanding insulation properties but also exhibit extremely high tracking resistance. Their Comparative Tracking Index (CTI) exceeds conventional values. As a result, GENESTAR™ PA9T enables the manufacture of high-voltage components that are both compact and lightweight, whether for industrial or automotive applications.
4. Extremely Low Moisture Absorption and Maximum Dimensional Stability GENESTAR™ PA9T has one of the lowest moisture absorption rates among high-temperature-resistant polyamides. As a result, the material offers excellent dimensional stability and exceptionally high reliability and performance, particularly in hot and humid environments.
5. Material for high-volume production, even of complex components The pressure to scale up and accelerate industrial production is increasing across the board. At the same time, components are being designed with ever-greater complexity—featuring thinner walls, more intricate geometries, and a high degree of integration. GENESTAR™ meets the associated requirements for industrial manufacturing. This is because the PA9T materials from the GENESTAR™ family are exceptionally easy to process, whether by injection molding or extrusion; they are easily laser-weldable; and they enable optimized mass production even for complex and highly integrated components.
