Updated on March 25, 2026 Sustainability Promotion Structure
In 2022, the Kuraray Group formed the Sustainability Committee, chaired by the President, replacing the former CSR Committee. The Sustainability Committee deliberates on sustainability-related issues and corresponding policies at the management level, makes prompt decisions, and monitors the progress of various initiatives. Matters deemed important by the Sustainability Committee are subsequently proposed to or reported to the Board of Directors, and the Board’s opinions are reflected in ongoing efforts to address sustainability issues.
Under the Sustainability Committee, six project teams have been established (Sustainability Strategy Proposal, Global Climate / GHG Emission Reduction Project, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) Project, Sustainability Portfolio Project, Sustainability Procurement Project, and Diversity & Inclusion Project), along with a Carbon dioxide Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) project team positioned as a corporate-wide initiative. The Sustainability Committee monitors and evaluates the progress and challenges of each project team to ensure steady implementation. The project teams are not fixed, and their structure is flexibly realigned according to the progress of the various initiatives. This Committee also manages the progress of Plan-Do-Check-Action related to the Responsible Care activities.
The Kuraray Group held four Sustainability Committee meetings in 2025 to report on the progress of each project team's activities and to deliberate on key measures. The main topics of discussion are as follows; virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) in U.S., the emission trading scheme (GX-ETS) starting in April 2026, progress on the CCUS Project, advancement of the products that contribute to natural and living environment using the Kuraray Portfolio Sustainability Assessment (PSA) system, and the implementation of global sustainable procurement questionnaire, and so on.
