KURARAY CO., LTD. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Hitoshi Kawahara) held a management briefing for institutional investors and analysts, on the theme of growth opportunities in its activated carbon business.
Activated carbon is attracting attention as a promising technology for removing PFAS, some of which have been pointed out as harmful and have been causing problems with their contamination of drinking water and other sources. In the United States, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized drinking water regulations regarding PFAS in April 2024. The EPA recognizes granular activated carbon (GAC) as one of the best technologies available for PFAS removal, and demand for GAC is expected to increase in the future. At the briefing, we introduced the strengths of the Kuraray Group as a total solution provider of activated carbon for PFAS removal applications and its future growth prospects. We will continue to capture steadily growing demand and contribute to improving the natural and living environment through our business activities.
