Kuraray will increase the price of its top brand CLARINO, which holds the world's No. 1 share in the man-made leather industry, for shipments commencing from February 1, 2008. Details of the price increase are as follows.
A price revision was implemented in April 2007 and Kuraray set the objective of securing a stable supply to its customers while consistently striving to reduce costs through ongoing brand elimination and consolidation. Since then, however, fuel and raw material costs have risen to unprecedented levels and significantly forced up costs even in post processing, including those for dyeing and finishing, which are partially subcontracted.
To maintain stable supplies, the Company has deemed it necessary to improve profitability and, accordingly, implemented the price revision as outlined below.
|CLARINO||Grain-type, man-made leather used for shoes, bags, and sports balls|
|AMARETTA||Suede-type used for clothing and interiors|
|PARCASSIO||Grain-type, man-made leather with tannery finishing used for Shoes|
