Kuraray announces the decision to increase prices of its polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibers KURALON and KURALON K-Ⅱ, as well as VECTRAN high-strength polyarylate fiber and polyester staple fibers for shipments commencing April 1, 2013, as outlined below.

Amid the recent surging crude oil and naphtha prices, the steep rises in raw materials and fuel costs went far beyond the Company's own cost reduction endeavors and brought about a rapid deterioration in earnings from the aforementioned products.

Under these circumstances, the Company was compelled to implement the following price revisions to ensure a stable supply and improve profitability.

1. Scope of revisions All domestic and overseas shipments of KURALON and KURALON K-Ⅱ, as well as VECTRAN high-strength polyarylate fiber and polyester staple fibers
2. Price increases 5%-10% of the current price
3. Effective date Shipments from April 1, 2013
