We send our deepest condolences to those who continue to suffer in the aftermath of the Great Tohoku Earthquake and tsunamis in northeast Japan, and we wish for their earliest possible recovery.
As announced in the March 14, 2011 press release, the operation of Kuraray's Kashima Plant (Kamisu City, Ibaraki Prefecture) has been suspended after the earthquake. The status of recovery at this plant as of April 5, 2011 is as follows.

  • We are conducting a detailed inspection of our production facilities and have not so far identified facility damage that could cause serious problems in resuming our production operations.
  • The partial supply of electricity and steam to the plant is expected to resume in a few days.
  • There is no prospect of resuming the procurement of the raw materials required for full-fledged production.
  • Giving due consideration to the conditions above, we are stepping up preparations for partially resuming production around mid-April using raw materials inventory on hand at the plant.

We will continue to devote all of our efforts to a complete recovery of operations at this plant. We ask for your kind understanding and assistance.
