Pursuant to the Company Law (Article 346, Paragraphs 4 and 6), Kuraray Co., Ltd. resolved, at a meeting of its Board of Corporate Auditors, to appoint a temporary independent auditor. Brief details are as follows.
1. Reason for the Temporary Appointment of an Independent Auditor
In view of the disqualification effective July 1 2006 of Kuraray's previous independent auditor, ChuoAoyama PricewaterhouseCoopers, from auditing Kuraray's corporate accounts, and in order to continue to conduct its auditing functions without disruption, the Board of Corporate Auditors has temporarily appointed PriceWaterhouseCoopers Arata as a new independent auditor The appointment of the new independent auditor will be on the agenda of the annual General Meeting of Shareholders to be convened in June 2007.
