Kuraray Plastics Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka; President: Katsuhiko Kishi) has recently developed an entirely new type of elastic hose using neither a metal wire nor a resin spiral core. The new elastic hose has a one-piece construction that is entirely different from spiral core hose. On March 22, 2005, Kuraray Plastics will become the first in the industry to market this type of product.
This kind of hose generally uses a metal wire spiral core, and is used in such applications as futon dryers, heating and refrigeration units , stoves, spot coolers, and clean rooms. In April 1996, Kuraray developed and later patented an elastic hose that uses a spiral core made from an eco-friendly, rustproof PVC-free resin instead of metal.
The new hose was developed in response to calls for such a product from the marketplace, and represents a further upgrade of the Company's former product. It dispenses with the resin spiral core, making it lighter, more elastic, and more shape-stable. The materials used make the hose more resistant to crushing, which means that it is rupture resistant. Furthermore, because it is made entirely of one material, polypropylene, it is easy to sort for recycling and therefore eco-friendly.
