Kuraray's TROSIFOL business is a leading global specialist in the development, manufacture and supply of PVB and ionoplast interlayers for laminated safety glass applications in the architectural, automotive and photovoltaic industries.

The merger of the TROSIFOL and DuPont Glass Laminating Solutions businesses has resulted in consolidation of the TROSIFOL, SENTRYGLAS and BUTACITE product brands into a single brand: the new TROSIFOL.

TROSIFOL offers the world's broadest portfolio of innovative glass-laminating solutions, including structural and functional interlayers for safety and security applications, sound insulation and UV protection. For decorative applications, TROSIFOL supplies colored interlayers, digitally printable films and other innovative products for interior design projects. TROSIFOL UltraClear films exhibit the lowest Yellowness Index (YID) in the industry.

1930‘s DuPont co-invents, develops and launches PVB for automotive glazing under the BUTACITE brand.
1952 In 1953 TROSIFOL, was registered as a product name in the German "Handelsregister" and is launched in Germans market
1968 TROSIFOL became the first product to replace the hitherto customary powdered PVB including newly patented PE interleaved film, thus making washing and conditioning the film superfluous.
1983 TROSIFOL, was produced in a film width of 3.21 m to match the customary float glass width
1992 Launch of the first BUTACITE The Wedge film for Heads Up Display
1998 Launch of SENTRYGLAS by DuPont for hurricane-protection glazing
2000 The first sound-proofing PVB film TROSIFOL Sound Control was developed and launched.
2003 The newly developed PVB automotive film TROSIFOL VG was launched. A new PVB film plant in Bor, Russia, started operation.
2004 Kuraray Group acquired the PVB film business of HT Troplast AG. The first dedicated product line – TROSIFOL Solar - for the encapsulation of solar cells in photovoltaic modules was launched.
2007 The 4th series production plant with a film width of 3.21 m went into operation at the Troisdorf plant.
2008 TROSIFOL achieves certification by BS OHSAS 18001:2007. TÜV certification of thin-film modules with TROSIFOL Solar in accordance with ICE 61215:2005.
2009 Kuraray PVB Division established
2012/2013 Invest in Troisdorf location in a 5th production line especially for the automotive sector.
2014 Acquired Glass Laminating Solutions & Vinyls businesses of E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company (“DuPont”) including PVB resin and PVB and Ionoplast interlayers plants in North America, Czech Republic and South Korea.
2016 TROSIFOL, SENTRYGLAS and BUTACITE product brands merger into a single brand: the new TROSIFOL. The new TROSIFOL visual identity is launched at Glasstec 2016 in Dusseldorf; Germany and becomes the global leading brand for architectural interlayers with the widest product portfolio.
2018 PVB expansion in Korea.
