New Business Development

For the creation of the New Business, , our original liquid crystalline polymer film <Vecstar> has very high frequency to apply for electronic devices. Now its main uses are high-speed signal transmission flexible printed circuit boards, and are under expansion to multilayer printed circuit boards. And also, we apply our special micro-molding technology to several components. At the present time, we focus on the parts for automobile, cell culture plate <Elplasia>, optical film for amusement <Legenda>, and light guide plate for LED.

E&E Materials Business

E&E materials business development department focuses on two projects. One is Kuraray LCP film <Vecstar>, and the other one is CMP pad for semiconductor manufacturing. Both products were created and developed by Kuraray proprietary polymer fabrication technologies.

Kuraray LCP film <Vecstar>

A liquid crystalline polymer film developed using Kuraray proprietary film forming technology. The film has excellent high-frequency properties for electronic devices. Now its main uses are high-speed signal transmission flexible printed circuit boards, and are under expansion to multilayer printed circuit boards.

CMP pad for semiconductor manufacturing

A high performance CMP (Chemical Mechanical Polishing) pad created by Kuraray proprietary thermoplastic polyurethane technology. This pad provides to semiconductor manufacturers several advantages, i.e. better planarity, very low scratch formation and superior cost performance.

<Elplasia>

<Elplasia>, also called micro-space cell culture plate, has been developed by utilizing Kuraray’s micro fabrication technology. It has a number of micro spaces regularly arrayed on the surface which allow cells self-assemble to form 3D cell aggregates, spheroids, with size uniformity. It is attracting interests from researchers in drug discovery and regenerative medicine.

<Legenda>

<Legenda> is composed of complicated and precise micro-patterns made of photo-curable resin on plastic film. Legenda with LED light source, even if close distance, describes various lighting-patterns. So Legenda makes customers’ systems or units downsizing. Furthermore, Legenda will be able to use some variety applications, because Legenda can be formed three-dimensional without deformation of micro-structures.

High-efficient light guide plate

The light guide plate is used an acrylic resin of our optical grade and is fabricated the micro-patterns to both faces. The light guide plate has high-efficiency of light from LED and Controlled emission. The plate can achieve energy conservation, system-downsizing, and high designability for LED lighting and sign.
