Fibers and Industrial Materials Division

Commercialized by Kuraray, KURALON was the first synthetic fiber to be made in Japan. It is a world-class niche product that has been subject to continual improvements in anticipation of changes in demand over time. Though perhaps an unobtrusive product, KURALON fulfills an extremely important role. Its major applications include use as a Fiber-Reinforced Cement (FRC) in place of asbestos, which is considered harmful to the body. It is also used as a water-soluble fiber used for making knitted fabrics, fishing nets and ropes, and for automotive brake hoses.

The Fibers and Industrial Materials Division sells high-performance fibers and industrial materials that are not only highly functional but are also manufactured in an environmentally sound manner.
